Activision Target New Instrument Music Games

Ever since the release of the first Guitar Hero game back in 2005, they have been a huge hit. Up until now Guitar Hero have released 10 different games, the first ones being based more on guitars. Activision have now been forced, with the introduction of Rock Band, to bring in new instruments into their range of games.

However, with 3 new games in the pipeline, Guitar Hero are heading to get the edge over Rock Band with the introduction of a different game, without guitars.

The 3 new games that are due for release later this year are Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero and DJ Hero. The first one is going to be Guitar Hero 5, this is a standard Guitar Hero game, it features an 85 song set list, as well as the full range of instruments. Alongside this game, a new guitar controller is being released which is improved on the previous model.

Band Hero is the second one, this is pretty much the same as Guitar Hero 5, except it’s more family based. This is one of the ways that Activision are trying to get an edge over Rock Band on the family gaming market.

DJ Hero is the final game that they have in the pipeline. This is something totally new and this is Activision’s way of taking on a new piece of the market. This game will feature a whole new controller, the DJ deck which features 3 buttons and 2 sliders. It’s difficult to see whether a game like this will prove to be popular, especially as it’s for a new target market. However, if it does prove to be successful, will we eventually see a whole new range of future Guitar Hero’s? Obviously not called Guitar Hero. Also, if the game is successful, will Harmonix jump on the band wagon and release their own games to steal some of the market away from Activision.

There are a number of new markets that have not yet been targeted by either of the music game manufacturers. One being piano players amoung us. No doubt a Piano Hero game would be popular because you would get both modern piano players, as well as more classical players who prefer to play grand pianos.

There are also other angles that could be considered, one being a classical version of Guitar Hero. Classical guitars are hugely popular and by bringing out a video game like Classical Guitar Hero, you would almost be entering a new market because the age of the player would be different to the age of a standard Guitar Hero player.

Those are just a couple of ideas that appeared in my head while writing this, whether or not they will be created is an entirely different matter. Whether or not these games are preduced comes down to how well DJ Hero does in the market and how much money is made for Activision. Another problem would be whether or not Activision think a game like Classical Guitar Hero would make any money at all.

Every one of these factors would affect the game production, but hopefully we will see some of these games being released in the future.

About its release she says ”I’m very excited, nervous, eager, anxious but chuffed to announce my new album! It’s taken a while and it knocked me for six when writing it. It’s different from ”19”, it’s about the same things but in a different light. I deal with things differently now. I’m more patient, more honest, more forgiving and more aware of my own flaws, habits and principles. Something t…

A man runs through deserted night streets, stalked by the lights of a car. It’s a definitive film noir situation, promptly sidetracked–yet curiously not undercut–by real-life slapstick: watching over his shoulder for pursuers, the running man charges smack into a lamppost. The figure that helps him to his feet is not one of the pursuers (they’ve oddly disappeared) but an anonymous passerby…
